I ask all families to take their new family member to their vet within 5 business days from the time they pick up their pup. I do this so that if your vet finds any problems (even though we do have our vet check done) we can establish what the problem is and come to an agreement but this is for Hips and elbows only. I also ask that the pups have a microchip done at the same time. Should your vet have any concerns I would need all the reports , and then we would discuss with our vet. Do you offer a health guarantee? We offer a one year for Hips and Elbows, due to the ever changing dog food industry, we (breeders) have discovered that over-feeding a puppy does more harm then good, a lean pup is a healthy pup. Puppies that are overweight tend to end up with a lot of health issues. Excessive exercise will also cause damage to young pups.
Why only Hips and elbows? Our dogs are all genetically healthy, what you feed your dog and the environment are also health risks, We can not control that. There are a lot of studies now about taurine deficiency and dilated cardiomyopathy in golden retrievers that are fed commercial diets. https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/news/uc-davis-investigates-link-between-dog-diets-and-deadly-heart-disease We are currently feeding Purina Pro Plan Sport 30/20. Puppies Love it and our adult dogs are doing great with it, their coats are beautiful and their weight is good and they are all healthy. The grain free foods, including Fromm’s, are considered BEG diets: boutique (small companies), exotic ingredients (kangaroo, bison, venison, duck, etc.) or grain-Free (legumes, potatoes, sweet potatoes). We are now finding out that Rawhide chews, Milk bone dog biscuits, products made in China and a lot of treats are treated with cancer causing preservatives etc.
Weed killer (roundup),bug killer, fertilizers for lawns and various items like this can cause cancers as well as other problems, What we use here is natural or none at all.
Over vaccinating or too many vaccines at one time, can lead to autoimmune disease, which is not something that I can control. I always suggest only one vaccine at a time when you take your puppy in for vaccines.
Do you vaccinate the puppies. Yes we give them the first vaccine before going home, they will need to be vaccinated another 3 times and then given a Rabies shot this is done by your vet. Vaccine protocol varies from vet to vet, we follow every 3-4 weeks (8-12-16-20 weeks) then follow with a rabies shot, it is recommended not to get rabies shot at the same time as last vaccine. How old are the puppies when they go home. We keep puppies until they are 8 weeks old. Most people are still working and are only able to come on weekends so they would go home the following weekend following their 8 weeks.
At what age should we spay or neuter our dogs. It is recommended that you spay/neuter after the age of 2. Dogs are not done growing until that time please see https://www.ucdavis.edu/news/golden-retriever-study-suggests-neutering-affects-dog-health
When can we come and see the puppies? I am very protective of my puppies. I do not allow visitors due to Parvo, distemper, canine flu and that is just a few of the diseases. I do post pictures and videos on my Facebook page for all to see. We socialize with family and our other dogs. How do I know what puppy is mine? Puppies are picked according to when I receive the deposit to hold a puppy. Puppies are picked in the order of the wait list. However Breeder always has the right to first pick of the litter either male or female, So they would be next in line for a pup.
When do I pick my puppy? At 8 weeks when you come to take your puppy home. Should that fall in the middle of the week we will wait until the following weekend. A month after the puppies are born I set up appointments with all my puppy buyers, these appointments are about 1 1/2 hours apart, you will get to meet the puppies and choose the one you feel is best fit for your family, Hint: they usually pick you. By the time you get here you have already seen the puppies via video and pictures and you have an idea of which one you would like. By setting up the appointments early it allows for you to have everything in place for your new fur baby and allows you to block that time for pickup.
What if I change my mind and no longer want a puppy can I get my deposit back? No I will not return any deposits, they are non returnable. The reason for this is because I may have lost potential people wanting a puppy. I spend countless hours with those interested and try to accommodate everyone interested. If you are not really sure about getting a puppy please do not waste my time. I will not collect a deposit if I feel anyone is hesitant. I move on.
What is AKC limited registration? My puppies are NOT for breeding. I offer limited AKC registration on all my pups as pets only. They are not to be bred.
